| Emma Hillier. I have always been creative and as a child would
quite happily sit alone for hours, drawing, painting or playing with my 'Fashion Wheel'! Then one
Christmas I got a pink “Le Clic” camera and started taking pictures of my Barbie dolls.
That’s basically how I got into image making (and yes, I am a child of the 80s!)
Fast forward a few years and I have been working as a photographer since graduating from Falmouth
College of Art in 2000. During my time spent on the Photographic Communication degree course I was
able to develop my skills and I took a particular interest in portraiture and still life photography.
During this time it became apparent that photography was never going to be just a job, it’s a way
of life. For me it’s like breathing; if I couldn’t do it I couldn’t live.
I enjoy working with people, especially children and worked for a well-known portrait franchise for
three years until I had progressed as far as I could within the company. So, 18 months ago I decided
to go it alone. Since then I have found my style of photography and am enjoying it even more. |
