| Dawn Standley I am an art teacher in Telford, Shropshire, but I
live in Blaenau Ffestiniog, Gwynedd. I spend a lot of my time travelling, catching brief encounters of
the landscape. These snapshots give glimpses and unusual viewpoints of things we may generally ignore,
but they provide me with my inspiration.
My love of drawing has allowed me to express my passion for the organic and natural forms in our
countryside. My work is a response to this, enabling me to restore my lost identity as an artist
whilst trying to describe the beauty I see. Whether it be trees, vines, gates, fences or barbed wire,
I try to look through to what lies beyond them.
I attended Cardiff College of Art and Design from 1971, studying Fine Art, and gained my Teaching
Qualification from Gwent College, Caerleon in 1975.
I hope that you will appreciate the unusual quality of my recent work. I am continually striving to
take my ideas and expand them, making the marks necessary to produce my inner feelings in a tangible
way, using pastel, watercolour and pencil in the main. |
